Vol. 1 Brooklyn is looking for original submissions for our Sunday Story Series and our biweekly essays series.

Sunday Stories should not be longer than 3,000 words; for essays, the word limit is 4,000. Vol.1 Brooklyn does not offer payment at this time.

Collectively, we like a wide range of work, from creative nonfiction to experimental fiction, from cultural explorations to a simply structured and well-ordered story. We have wide-ranging bookshelves; we are impressed by quality writing in a wide variety of areas.

For Sunday Stories, fiction and memoir will be considered; excerpts from longer works are okay, as long as the excerpt works as a standalone piece. In your cover letter, please specify whether your submission is fiction or nonfiction.

Previously published work will not be considered. Please only submit one story, memoir, or essay (see other submission category) at a time.  Simultaneous submissions are welcome, as long as you let us know if the story has been accepted elsewhere.
Beginning in 2014, we'll be running a biweekly series of essays on Vol.1 Brooklyn. 4,000 words is the limit.

Previously published work will not be considered. Please only submit one essay or story (see other submission category) at a time.  Simultaneous submissions are welcome, as long as you let us know if the story has been accepted elsewhere.
